New Mexico motorcycle crash claims life of one

New Mexico’s motorcyclists often ride as a way to unwind or a way to efficiently travel to work or school. However, these bikers are often unsuspectingly put in harm’s way by other negligent drivers. In the event of motorcycle accidents, especially with a bigger vehicle, motorcycle drivers and their passengers are more likely to suffer catastrophic injuries. These injuries may lead to permanent disability or even death.

A recent collision between a motorcycle and a car on Interstate 40 re-emphasizes this need for drivers to exercise greater caution in order to prevent a tragic motorcycle accident. This crash has, unfortunately, proved to be fatal for the motorcyclist. Although he was rushed to the hospital immediately following the accident, he later died.

Two others also suffered serious injuries in the crash, but they are likely to survive and are currently in the hospital. The area of the highway where the accident took place was closed to traffic, but later reopened. While the accident is still under investigation, law enforcement officials do not believe that alcohol was responsible for the crash.

Even though alcohol apparently was not involved in the crash, one or both of the drivers may still have been negligent. Should the driver of a car be found to be negligent, then the family of the motorcyclist may choose to seek compensation by bringing a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent driver and his or her insurance company. In circumstances like this, the victim’s family may also choose to seek the advice of an experienced legal professional who may be able to advise them.
