Car accidents have caused injuries and fatalities to several Bernalillo County residents in the last few decades. There are various causes of car accidents. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents. Distracted driving can include driving while texting, driving under the influence, driving while talking on the phone and even driving while intoxicated. Additionally, driver fatigue can become a large contributing factor in car accidents, which can result in serious injuries and fatalities.

Recently, two cars were involved in a fatal car accident on Route 66. The accident occurred early in the morning. One of the drivers involved in the car accident succumbed to his injuries after being trapped inside his car. Another person was injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. The preliminary accident investigation conducted by the police stated that one of the possible factors that led to the fatal car accident might have been fatigue.

Many car accidents involving fatigued drivers have occurred at night when people are most vulnerable to drowsiness. In other cases, the driver of the vehicle may suffer from some form of sleep disorder, which can also cause an accident. A long day’s work coupled with other physical activities can cause the driver to be fatigued while driving on long, winding, boring roads.

Car accident victims, as well as their family members and relatives, may have the legal right to seek compensation from the driver’s insurance company. The victims of car accidents or the people who depend on them financially may wish to consider consulting a lawyer in order to initiate a personal injury lawsuit to obtain fair compensation for their losses.
