Intoxicated driver allegedly causes NM car crash, one dead

It is hard for most New Mexico drivers to fathom making a choice that could put themselves or other drivers on the road in danger. However, this is the choice that hundreds of Americans make everyday when they choose to get behind the wheel intoxicated. A recent Albuquerque car crash brought this very scary scenario to life when a multi-car accident caused serious injuries and a fatality. The driver who caused the crash is also accused of impaired driving, among other charges.

The car accident happened on I-40 in Albuquerque near 98th street when the accused's vehicle crashed into the victim's car and caused it to spin and crash into another vehicle. When police interviewed the accused, her behavior led them to believe she was under the influence. They also found methamphetamine in her jacket pocket. The victim was killed in the crash.

Since the driver has been charged with homicide by vehicle, among other charges, it is likely that the family of the deceased will consider a wrongful death suit. Wrongful death suits seek damages against a negligent party when it is believed that that party breached a duty of care that was owed to the victim. If it can be shown that this duty was breached, then it may be in the best interest of the victim's family to file suit if they have suffered financially.

Unfortunately, money cannot give the family members their loved one back, safe and sound. However, it can offer assistance in ways that can make everyday life easier for those who have already struggled through so much. It can also hold negligent parties accountable for the car accident injury or death. Damages can vary greatly and are dependent upon the accident specifics and the family's situation, among other factors.
