Car accident takes one life in New Mexico

A woman from El Paso recently passed away after getting involved in a car accident in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

According to reports from the area, the woman was driving down NM Highway 273. Coming toward her was a 2015 Ford Super Duty, which is an oversized pickup truck. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the truck drifted over the center line. It then entered the opposing traffic lanes and wound up slamming into three different vehicles.

Inside one of those vehicles was the woman who was killed; she was just 32 years old. Six other people suffered injuries that were severe enough that they had to be taken to a medical center.

The authorities responded to the crash and closed the road down completely. They did this initially to help the victims of the four-car crash, but they also started their investigation to see what happened and why. This is being carried out by the New Mexico Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the NMSP.

When a driver crosses the center line for any reason — distraction, drowsy driving, drunk driving, a medical emergency, etc — it creates one of the single most dangerous situations on the road. Opposing drivers often can’t avoid a crash fast enough and a head-on collision is a very violent way for a wreck to take place.

If you get injured in an accident like this, you definitely need to know what rights you have to compensation. The same is true for families who have unexpectedly lost loved ones in these tragic road accidents.
