An auto accident that occurs on the streets of any New Mexico city or town is always unfortunate. Not only can it lead to personal injury, but some car crash victims lose their lives. Despite this knowledge, motorists continue to rush along New Mexico’s streets, failing to yield to others, and not always succeeding in avoiding tragic car accidents.
A recent multi-vehicle car accident highlights just how dangerous a highway car wreck can be for those involved. As many as seven cars and a motorcycle were involved in the accident and several passengers suffered varying injuries. One was killed as a result of the crash.
Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, but early reports reveal that one of the vehicles involved may have been driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic. This error, if true, would likely cause a domino effect with several vehicles colliding. The accident site was isolated by police and closed to traffic for several hours to begin the investigation. According to police reports, the driver who may have caused the pile up may have suffered a medical condition.
If one or more drivers involved in an accident are shown to be negligent, and that negligent caused the accident, then the victims or their family members may be able to file lawsuits seeking compensation. If successful, such a claim can provide relief from pain and suffering, help pay medical expenses, and recoup lost wages. These lawsuits can be difficult, requiring a lot of legal know how and negotiation skills. Therefore, it may be best for an accident victim to seek counsel from an experienced Albuquerque legal professional regarding their respective rights and responsibilities.
