It can happen in the blink of an eye. One minute, people are driving along the interstate and the next, they or a loved one can be involved in a catastrophic crash. Some crashes are so devastating that they claim the lives of their passengers. Sadly, this was the case on a New Mexico interstate when a vehicle crossed over into oncoming traffic causing the deaths of the driver in the passenger in the oncoming vehicle.

The car accident is under investigation as the driver who crossed over into the other lane has reportedly shown signs of intoxication at the time of the crash. Interstate 40 was the scene of the crash where the driver heading eastbound crossed over into the westbound lane, striking and ultimately killing the driver and passenger. The report also stated that the eastbound driver was driving erratically just prior to the crash that claimed the two lives, whose identities have yet to be released.

If the driver was in fact, a drunk driver, at the time of crash, that person could face severe penalties including, but not limited to criminal charges. The driver could also be subject to a wrongful death suit, due to the two people who lost their lives. The accident investigation should help to clear up the uncertainty hanging in the air after the crash. The families of all involved are certainly anxious to hear answers about the details of the car accident.

When a vehicle leaves its lane and enters another, it can spell disaster. This is exactly what happened in this car accident. Had the driver not left the driver’s lane, the accident likely would not have occurred. What caused the driver to leave the person’s lane, is unclear at this point, although, alcohol or drugs is a suspected factor.
