There are areas that are considered more dangerous than others for motorists and other travelers. For example, an interstate has a higher risk for accidents during rush hour traffic than it does in the late night hours. Additionally, certain factors could lead to a serious or fatal automobile crash. This includes, but is not limited to, distracted driving, intoxicated driving, speeding, failing to signal a turn and inclement weather. Following an accident, it is important to understand the cause, as this can help pinpoint the cause and liability of the crash.

The investigative process is of growing importance for a recent fatal hit-and-run crash in Albuquerque. According to recent reports, a family is seeking the assistance of the public in their search for the driver that struck and killed their 15-year-old son. Reports indicated that their son was hit by a pickup truck near the Cottonwood Mall.

Authorities believe the truck in question was the stolen pickup truck officers attempted to pull over moments before the driver took off and evaded officers. Because of this, police have a person of interest, and they are currently trying to locate the truck. Finding the truck could help prove that it was the truck that hit the young boy. It can further help prove who was driving at the time of the crash.

The loss of a loved one is a difficult event to navigate. This is especially true for those that have lost a child in a sudden car accident. The damages that befall surviving loved ones can be tremendous as they are dealing with the emotional turmoil caused by the accident. This can be further exacerbated in maters that involve a hit-and-run. Despite not having a definitive cause and liable party to the crash, it is important that family members understand their rights and their ability to initiate a civil action, like a wrongful death claim, for the losses suffered.
