Passenger dies in car accident, driver faces charges

A woman is dead after a car accident, and the man who was driving the car is now facing serious charges relating to her death.

The accident happened on June 28, a Sunday. The two were in the car together, going down State Road 240. The car then left the road and slammed into a tree.

At around 7:00 p.m., police officers got the call and rushed to the crash site. That is when they figured out that the 48-year-old man had been the driver of the crashed car. The woman died at the crash scene, per reports. She was only 39 years old.

The police said that the pair had not properly been using their seat belts. They also determined that alcohol use was a major factor in the crash, alleging that the man was intoxicated when he caused the wreck. As a result, they arrested him, and the charges he is facing are for the second-degree felony of homicide by vehicle.

Moreover, this is not his first brush with the law. Just 10 days earlier, he had been involved in an accident where he had an open container, and he left the scene. He did not yield, causing that crash, and did not have proof of insurance on his car.
